Introduction

Old English
gaderian (/'gaderian/): to assemble, to put together, to collect, to gather

Gaderian is a fork of Apache HiveMind, which has been retired recently. The goal is to provide legacy support and maintenance for current HiveMind users, as well as develop a next-generation HiveMind under the name Gaderian.

The Gaderian site has gone live and can be viewed at http://gaderian.ops4j.org.

This site reflects the state of the current trunk of Hivemind v1.

The development branch for Gaderian v1.0 is currently located at https://scm.ops4j.org/repos/ops4j/projects/gaderian.

It was previously at repos/ops4j/laboratory/hivemind/devel/ so you might need to relocate your subversion copy.

Issue tracking is located at http://issues.ops4j.org/browse/GAD

Porting

Please see Porting from HiveMind to Gaderian for information on how to port your existing HiveMind appplication to Gaderian.

Road Map

Version 1.0

Version 1.0 has been released and is available for download. repo1.maven.org already contains the artifacts for use with Maven.

For more details of what the 1.0 version contains, please see Gaderian v1.0 Release Notes.

Version 2.0

This release is suggested to be based on Hivemind 2.0 branch but be fully compatible still with 1.0. This would allow the now quite flexible core of hivemind to be re-used in hopefully a number of interesting ways.

Apply all bug fixes with patches available

This item includes all bugs currently in Jira that has a patch attached to them - see list of applicable ones Outstanding Issues from Hivemind. If you feel that any of the listed issues have higher priority, please add it as a ticket in JIRA.

Converting documentation to the WIKI

This would allow more people to more easily update/add docs - common complaint has been the lack of better/more documentation - it is good, but could be better.

Question: This could be better to keep in the current Maven format, since putting it onto the WIKI would prevent offline browsing and such.

More examples

Adding more examples could help bring people up to speed quicker

Version 2.1

Apply all enhancements which have patches

This would bring some of the additional features already suggested (and patches provided for) into Hivemind.

Developers

The project was initiated by Raffael Herzog, JohanL and Jochen Zimmermann.
